FAQ
An NFT, or ‘non-fungible token’, is a unique, non-interchangeable digital asset which is stored on a digital ledger, or ‘blockchain’. The proof of an NFT’s ownership is verified and authenticated by the blockchain the NFT is hosted on.
The Knight Society’s NFTs serve as an exclusive membership pass within the Rutgers ecosystem as well as a digital collectible. These NFTs support the Rutgers athletes and give you access to exclusive perks.
The Knight Society was created by former Rutgers basketball player Geo Baker, former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand, and others in an effort to build, support, and connect the Rutgers Community in a new, unique way, while simultaneously supporting Rutgers athletes who are signed on NIL deals for promotion and appearances.
Aside from directly supporting current Rutgers student athletes, owners of a Knight Society NFT get exclusive benefits around the Rutgers ecosystem. Members will get potential discounts at local bars, exclusive networking events, tailgates, opportunities for signed merch and courtside / box seat tickets, and more.
If you are an entrepreneur/small business owner who is a member in our community, we will work with you to help promote your business using our elevated platform. Our goal is to uplift and connect the entire Rutgers community creating the ultimate community experience.
If you don’t love Rutgers athletics, The Knight Society is still a opportunity to meet employers, business owners, CEO’s, entrepreneurs, and other, all of whom are supporting one another. This is a chance to connect like no other. We want our Knight Society members to feel like they have an advantage in life from joining. There will also be plenty of other non-athletic benefits.
Knight Society NFTs will be available for sale in August. (Exact date TBD). There will be an early discounted sale for the first 2,000 members who joined the Rutgers Fan Club Discord, and a public sale to follow. You will be able to purchase an NFT directly via credit/debit card or with Ethereum until they are sold out.
Once the Knight Society NFTs are on sale, we’ll have a tool where you can easily purchase with a credit/debit card. Purchases can also be made with Ethereum. More info on this will be available later.
We’ll go into more detail on this once we get closer to our launch.
Absolutely. One of our two main goals is to help athletes monetize their name, image, and likeness and be able to connect and interact with fans and supporters like never before.
Athletes that have signed an NIL deal with The Knight Society will receive 75% of profits from the sale of Knight Society NFT’s. Athletes will also have the opportunity to interact and network with their fanbase like never before. The Knight Society will serve as a resource for athletes if they ever need advice on anything NIL.
Yes. There will be a maximum number of NFTs (TBA). Similarly to your old-school rookie trading card, no one can go back in time and create more of these exact editions once they are created.
Yes. You can resell your NFT (marketplace TBA). That is the unique part about our membership program. We are not promoting the Knight Society as a financial investment.
